Board of Equalization (BOE)
The Rockdale County Board of Equalization (BOE) is a voluntary group consisting of individuals that are qualified to serve as a Grand Juror, property owners and high school graduates. Before any new member may hear an appeal they must be sworn in under oath by the Clerk of Superior Court and complete 40 hrs of training on the appraisal and equalization process. The purpose of the BOE is to provide an independent and unbiased hearing of appeals and decide on the value, uniformity and taxability of the property based on the evidence presented to them. Once a decision has been reached by the BOE, should the taxpayer disagree they have 30 days from the date of the decision to file an appeal in Rockdale Superior Court through the Board of Assessor’s office.
