On May 6, 2019, HB 288 was signed by Governor Brian Kemp. As such, please be aware of the following filing fee changes that will become effective on January 1, 2020.

* $25.00 filing fee for deeds, financing statements and liens (with the exception of local and state tax liens) and removes cross indexing and additional page fees.

 * $25.00 filing fee for each requested instrument to be canceled, satisfied, released, or assigned and removes cross indexing and additional page fees.

* $5.00 filing fee for local and state tax liens, a $2.00 fee for each reference to a previously filed tax lien and a $2.00 fee for each additional page.

* $10.00 filing fee per page for plats.

Updates to Jury Meetings and Court Schedule

This message is for jurors scheduled to begin jury service on Monday, January 27, 2020.  Juror Numbers 1 through 250 please report to the Rockdale County Courthouse located at 922 Court Street, Conyers, GA 30012 at 8:15 AM as scheduled.  The doors to the Jury Room will open at 8:00 AM if you wish to arrive early.  Please remember to complete your juror questionnaire online here.  There is limited parking available at the Courthouse.  Please view the map outlined on the back of your jury summons for additional parking spaces.  Juror Numbers 251 through 300 are dismissed for the week and may be summoned again for a future jury date.

Charitable Giving Program

The Clerk of Superior and State Courts Charitable Giving Program is intended to support the missions of charitable organizations directly providing services to residents of Rockdale County.  Funds may be used for special programs or projects, including strategic planning activities and the purchase of capital items.  They may also be sought to support on-going activities.  Such funds may be used to strengthen organizational capacity, including funding salaries for key staff and covering core operating expenses.

The Clerk awards gifts, generally, during the second quarter of each year.  Gifts have already been awarded for the calendar year 2019.  The Charitable Gift Application Form and the Program Guidelines will be posted via this website on Friday January 31, 2020.  Additional announcements about this year’s Charitable Giving Schedule will be posted on January 31st when the Application and Guidelines are available.

NEW In the Real Estate Division


The Rockdale Clerk of Courts Office Real Estate Division has a new state of the art tool to make the job of Land Surveyors much easier. Now surveyors can print previously illegible plats 16 times larger than in the past thanks to the new large format printer/plotter.

A “plat” is a plan, map, or chart of a piece of land with actual or proposed features (such as lots) and also the land represented, especially as used in construction site mapping. A plat map includes a description of the land and everything on it, including roads, boundaries, and real property.

Surveyors need documents that are printed to the proper engineering scale. Now they can print to the original size of the scanned document: ANSI C (17 x 22”), ANSI D (22 x 34”) and ANSI E (34 x 44”). One of the first users was local surveyor Mark Lincoln, President of Lincoln Surveying, who says the plotter will be of value to Real Estate Attorneys and Title Examiners, as well. According to Lincoln, this is a service not available in all counties and is highly appreciated by the Land Records User Community.

The public may also find it beneficial to have an easily readable copy of their own property plat. The price to print on the plotter varies by size, but will always be much less than commercial print shops. Through the use of innovative technologies, the Clerk of Courts Office continues Preserving the Past While Preparing For the Future.
