PRESERVING THE PAST WHILE PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE

The Honorable Ruth A. Wilson was elected by the people of Rockdale County to serve as the Clerk of Superior and State Courts, taking office in January 2009. Wilson is the first African-American elected to a Constitutional Office in Rockdale County.

As a Certified Clerk of Superior Court, Wilson has made significant measureable improvements in the operation and management of the Clerk’s Office. Highlights include launching an interactive website, implementation of Financial Management Software, introduction of Online Payment Services, providing internet access to court records, online jury management, eFiling of court documents, eRecording of Land Records and a dramatic reduction in the amount of manual processing required.

Ms. Wilson earned her MBA in Finance at Georgia State University and a BA in English at Southern Illinois University. In her capacity as Marketing Director for AT&T, Wilson created and managed inter-disciplinary teams and a $250 million budget. She produced highly profitable software based services. Additionally, she developed and implemented processes and procedures aimed at minimizing costs while maximizing efficiency and profits.

Throughout her life, Wilson has been a community servant leader in both elected and appointed positions. Ms. Wilson’s commitment to community, family and children can be chronicled through her lifetime and tireless involvement in Jack and Jill of America, Inc., (a national nonprofit that focuses on children, families and community support) where she was elected both a local and Regional officer. Wilson continues to provide community leadership and youth mentoring throughout Rockdale County.

She created a public/private partnership to produce the Rockdale County Middle School Oratorical competition. Wilson also created the Rockdale County Family Law Information Center which provides free legal consultations.

Wilson has contributed countless hours to the Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Rockdale, the Rotary Club of Conyers serving as Chair of Literacy, Youth Services and Membership and held a variety of leadership roles in several faith based ministries.

She serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Metropolitan Court Clerks Association of Georgia. She has been recognized by the Chamber of Commerce and the Rockdale County Public Schools Foundation for her service above self and service to all mankind. She has donated more than $100,000 to local nonprofit, educational and charitable causes through her own grant program.

Ms. Wilson combines Fortune Top 50 corporate experience, a strong financial background, information technology expertise, leadership skills and non-profit sensibility in her role as an Elected Official. She is focused on improving the technological capabilities and productivity of the Office and “preserving the past while preparing for the future”.

Wilson resides in Rockdale County with her husband William and takes great pride in the accomplishments of her three children, Thomas, Jerome and Diane. She is tremendously proud of the team of talented and dedicated employees who look to her for leadership.
